Invoice Statuses

StatusDescription
draftThe invoice has been created but is not yet finalised. Its line items and amounts can still change, and no payment is expected while it remains a draft.
openThe invoice has been generated and is awaiting payment. It is in an "open" state until payment is received.
paidThe invoice has been fully paid. The payment has been processed, and the invoice is marked as settled.
uncollectibleThe invoice could not be collected and is not expected to be paid. It remains on record for reporting and reconciliation purposes.
discardedThe draft invoice was never issued and has been discarded. No payment is expected, and the invoice is not counted towards the balance.

Invoice Lifecycle

An invoice is created either as a draft or directly as open, and can also be created as paid when the charge is settled at the moment of issuing. A draft invoice is either finalised into open, or discarded if it is never issued. Once an invoice is open it is considered issued and will always be collected on, so it can only end up as paid or uncollectible. The statuses paid, uncollectible and discarded are final.
